The two cats portrayed in this etching belong to a dear friend of mine who is a weaver. She has an incredible collection of yarns. I am very excited by the inks I used on this etching. As they are both color and light fast, so they won't fade. The colors are so brilliant, in fact, that I had to use a mid-tone paper in order to calm them down. This khaki colored paper allows the brilliance of the colors to show, but keeps them in the background where they belong. The darker paper also allowed me to use a contrasting white gouache which I used on the cats to bring them forward. All colors except the brown have been applied by hand --Sueellen Ross
